Do what you enjoy.

It's been a rainy couple of days, but that's when we get the most done.  Mike continues working on getting his shop in the garage put together.  He has designed it so if we move again (hopefully not soon) it can all just be picked up and moved without having to dismantle too much.  He is so happy to have the space to put his shop back together.  It's good to be married to a handsome handy man.

This past Thursday I met a group of ladies that I used to attend church with.  They invited me to go along and attend an evening out with the group.   We had a great meal at Panera and then saw Chondra Pierce live up in Westerville.  For those that don't know who Chondra Pierce is she is a phenomenal Christian Comedian.  We laughed so hard we were in tears.  Her show is geared mostly for women and specially women... in her age range or older, yep I am one of them.  It was a wonderful evening!!!

During above said evening we talked about everything.  Since I hadn't seen the ladies in, well a long time they wanted to hear about our journey on the Lady J.  I always seem to forget who and how many folks actually read my blogs because they all mentioned the fact that I hadn't shown a picture of the finished head board I was working on and ironically enough a good friend of ours today mentioned the same thing to Mike.  So folks for those of you interested below are photos of the final process and product in regards to our new head board.  Mike and I both loved how it turned out and the fact that it pretty much costs us NOTHING!  Now what to do with all the other boards that we have stacked in the garage from this project.  Any ideas? Send them my way.

First I had to drill holes for the lag bolts so I could attach the legs to the frame.

I then put a coat of satin polyurethane over the whole thing.
And here it is.

It always makes me happy when things in my mind actually turn out the way I picture they should.  Thanks to Mike for all his guidance and patience.  I still have more work to do in the master bedroom.  I have to figure out a way to revamp the lampshades since they didn't like being stored away for several months.  I also need to make curtains and some kind of dust ruffle to hide all the stuff under the bed.  But that will come.

Okay here comes a true confession.  I love being a crafty Wife/Mother/Grandmother.  I am definitely not a "Career Woman".  When I was working it was a job and it paid the bills, but that was it.  I have always enjoyed cooking, cleaning, sewing, knitting, being crafty, doing things for my family and friends.  I sound like some kind of 50's housewife and maybe in some ways I am, but I enjoy it and I won't apologize for it either.    Having said that, this week I have also been working on Halloween costumes for my Grandsons.  I have altered the size of one that Kate bought for Miles and made one from the start for Amanda to wear on Jacob.  I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!!!  I will show you pictures of the boys later after they have debuted their outfits.   I can remember my Mom always working on things for our family and friends and thinking oh I wish I had the time and resources to do the same.  Well now I do and I plan to take full advantage of it.
Working on Jacob's outfit.

So on this rainy, Saturday afternoon we are hunkered down, Mike in his recliner under a blanket (he woke up feeling a cold coming on) watching football (the Buckeyes of course) and I have plans to make some chicken and noodles for dinner.  What better thing to feed your man when he has a cold.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday.
