Sunday was not lost

We decided to take a road trip today over to Atwell Lake's Fall Festival.  I read about it on line and it looked like a good idea for a Sunday destination.  After all the rain we had on Saturday we were ready to get out of the house for a while.  So after some breakfast and our morning cup of coffee we were off.

Followed this guy for a while.  Every time I see one of these I think of our Grandson Miles.

Beautiful countryside

I seem to have this attraction to old barns

A sweet little church

We had a nice two hour drive to Atwell Lake which is near New Philadelphia, OH.  We opted to take the back roads and stay off of the freeways.  The ride is always much more enjoyable this way and lots more to look at.  Well we started getting close to our destination and ran into this.

Traffic was backed up for well over a mile just to get into the park, Ugh!
We realized that this was the line to simply get into the parking lot of the park.  Ugh!  After waiting about 10 minutes staring at the back of the car in front of us we decided to chuck this idea and turn around.

By this time it was almost 1:00 p.m. and we were both a bit hangry (as some know this is a cross between hungry and angry).  So we decided to turn around and head back.  What I forgot to mention is that my brother Gary called while we were on our way this morning and invited us over for a family dinner.  He was going to make his famous onion rings.  Dinner was at 6:00 p.m. so we decided it be best if we just head back home.  Nothing like driving 2 hours just to get lunch at Burger King.  We did stop by Gnadenhutten, OH to visit their local park.

Well so much for a road trip, we did though enjoy a nice Sunday drive.  That evening we enjoyed a family dinner at my brothers home.  These are beginning to become a tradition once again.  When my parents were alive we would have dinner at their house almost every Sunday.  Then when Mike and I lived in Ashville we would have family dinners there, now we have moved them to my brothers place and the tradition lives on.  We are blessed with such a wonderful family who actually enjoys each others company.

We always have such a good time.

Playing with Auntie Faith and Zach is always a fun thing

Okay so Grandma takes lots of pictures of the boy, he's one of the few that will sit still for it.
Papa got the camera away from me and shot this one.

Spending time with family, one of Gods many blessings.
