Solace is home!

Solace has arrived at her dock here in Fairfield Harbor.  This morning we were finally able to get our boat in the water.  It was a beautiful day and the humidity was low, so we figured it was as good a day as any to bring Solace home.  Yes the new name of our boat is Solace, Mike picked this out.  I think it fits us and the boat pretty well.  This sweet little boat brings us great comfort.

We took the boat over to a public ramp on the Trent River, basically right in downtown New Bern.  We were able to get her rigged and ready to go without to much trouble.  It took us about an hour and a half to motor her over (yes there was not an ounce of wind) to Birdland Marina where she will be docked.  This marina is about two blocks from the house and is small and very friendly.  The pictures are pretty self explanatory.  It was a great day and we are so glad to get her home.

At the boat ramp in town.
Had a little extra passenger today.
Got through the railroad bridge first.

Motored by downtown New Bern and the marina.

Then had the folks at the Cunningham Bridge open for us.

Out finally on to the Neuse River

Moving in on the bridges that we cross over when coming into town

Leaving downtown New Bern behind

Definitely a different view from down here.

Once the bimini was up and we had a little shade it was awesome.

Going up the fairway into the inner harbor

This we believe is the boat (and house) of some folks we met while doing the Loop last year.  Small World.

Such a gorgeous view

Ah home at last.
