October 25, 2016 A Perfect Day in October for sailing

A beautiful day for sailing, that is all that needs to be said.

Cruising back the fairway to our marina

This is where it begins, the table that is...

On Tuesday we took another trip over the Precision Molding and Woodwork shop.  They had pulled the pallets of wood that we would be choosing our wood for our dining room table.  You see the wood we will be using is flooring taken from a 1920's warehouse.  Mike and a couple of the guys working their spent a while going through literally each board to pick out 12 boards that would work for this project.  I can hardly wait to see what Mike is going to do with these awesome boards.

After picking out the lumber we rode by the marina in town and found the Red Head was docked there.  The folks that own this awesome boat are the couple that run "Active Captain".  For those of you not familiar with this its an on line resource for boaters when it comes to navigation, marinas, and waterway conditions.

Awesome Weekend!

This past weekend was a delightfully busy one.  We had two sets of visitors (from Ohio), yes I said 2!

First our dearest friends Ed & Julie Kerns came down to spend some time with us.  I looked forward to their visit for weeks.  They arrived on Thursday evening.  I fixed a nice dinner for us to enjoy here and we spent the rest of the evening catching up on the latest news.  Friday morning hung out and relaxed as we had some other friends coming to join us for lunch.  I know how awesome is that to have two sets of friends visiting in the same weekend.  Bob and Jan Batiste and their daughter Cassie joined us for lunch and we all had a wonderful time.  The Batiste's used to go to the church we attended in Columbus.  Haven't seen them sine Cassie was a baby.  (She's 17 now)  Way to long!

Out for a morning walk with the pups.

Friday afternoon after the Batiste's left Julie and I hopped in the truck and headed for downtown New Bern to check out the stores and get in a walk after that lunch.  The guys too jumped in Mike's truck and headed over to Precision Moulding and Woodworking to pick out some boards for our dinning room table and to drool over all the awesome wood working equipment, wood and such what not.

Check out this cutie

This pups name was Lexi and she was such a good pup.

Saturday morning we went to the Farmers Market in town and picked up some goodies.  Then headed over to Stingrays for some lunch.  After lunch we headed to Kinston to visit the USS Neuse Museum.  Which by the way was awesome.

After touring the Museum we took a drive over to Washington, NC to attend the Smoke on the Water festival.  We were a little late and so many things were shut down, but it was a pretty walk by the water.

Sunday was spent relaxing in the morning and then after lunch we headed over to Fort Macon State Park to hang out at the beach.  And yes we took the pups with us.  You see Ed & Julie brought their dog Nova along.  Millie and Nova had a wonderful time as did we all!!!

Miss Millie did not like the waves

Can you tell?

Miss Nova decided freedom on the beach would be a good thing, Julie thought differently.

A little craziness on the beach

The beach was pretty quiet

Someone had left this lovely pile of shells on the beach

Millie did though love running in the sand

Life is good when your feet are covered in sand

Miss Nova

Millie did so well with all this loving from this sweet little girl

Notice Nova not liking the waves either.
