We spent one day touring Jekyll Island, GA. This island back in the late 1800's were the winter homes for families that represented one sixth of the world's wealth. The houses on the island were called "cottages". We toured 2 of the old homes and in my mind they were "Mansions" not "Cottages". This part of the island is the historic part, there are other parts of the island that are more modern day where the everyday folks live. I use that term loosely as you would still need to be very well off to live on this island.
A couple of the "Cottages".
Below is the only Chapel on the grounds (from back in the day).

There is a turtle rescue facility on the island.
The camilla was in bloom.
We took a drive over to the part of the island that is called "Driftwood Beach" the above photo is one of my favorites from that area.
While walking along the beach here I could only think how much my brother Gary would love this place as he collect drift wood of all sorts.
We then headed over to the dunes.
After dinner in downtown St. Marys I headed over to the waterfront to take a couple more photos, this time with my tripod to hopefully take care of the blur from the last ones.
And yes, Mike snapped one of me while I was playing with my camera.
It was a beautiful day.
