We left New Bern early Saturday morning. It was a beautiful day for a drive. Heading up north to Columbus to spend the 4th with the family. What we hadn't figured into our drive was all the traffic. In the 2 years that we have travelled back and forth to Columbus we have NEVER seen so much traffic. And it seemed that every other car was from Ohio. Was there no one left in the state? But alas we soon realized what was going on. All of these folks were on their way back from ocean vacations. Most likely down at the Outer Banks. It added about an hour and a half to our trip, but like I said before the weather was great and we were not on any kind of schedule. We just went with the flow.
On Sunday morning I woke early and decided to go for a walk. My brother Gary was up and around and decided to come along. We spotted a Momma dear and her little one in the yard next to Gary's. I soon came to find out that this little one had just been born this past week.
When we returned from our walk I sat on the back porch for a while to let Millie out. But then realized Millie had visitors in the back yard. The Momma dear was feeding in the yard.
Later that morning I met my dear friend Kathy. It was a wonderful visit. It is so amazing first that we have been friends since high school and that though we may not see each other only a couple of times a year we seem to pick up right where we left off. It was the best 3 hour conversation I have had in a long time.
After my visit with Kathy I headed over to finally get to see the rest of the family. I took very little photos as I was spending all my time enjoying these little guys.
Jacob and I did try our hand at a selfie.
The boys love playing on the floor with Papa.
LOVE THOSE BIG BROWN EYES!!!
So now we come to Monday morning. Took Miss Millie for a walk before it gets too hot. Then took a stroll our the yard to see what I could find. There truly is beauty everywhere if you are simply willing to look for it.
Who knows what the day will bring!
